Veterans Nursing Home Update

There has been much progress towards the development of the Veterans Nursing Home.  The below language will be added to the Florida budget, scheduled to be approved in March 2024.  This will permit the expenditure of $102 million for this project.  Collier County will soon be the home of a state-of-the-art Veterans Nursing Home and adult day care facility for our veteran community.

SECTION 130. There is hereby appropriated for Fiscal Year 2023-2024, $66,300,000 in nonrecurring funds from the Federal Grants Trust Fund and $35,700,000 in the Grants and Donations Trust Fund in Fixed Capital Outlay budget authority to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (department) to support the department’s application for federal matching funds to construct a new veterans’ nursing home in Collier County that is due to the U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs by April 15, 2024. This section is effective upon becoming law.

The release of the $500,000 last Friday, December 8th, and the above approval language are positive steps for the VA Nursing Home project.
