Proposed Improvement on Rattlesnake Hammock Road at Augusta Blvd./ Royal Wood Blvd
The Collier County Transportation Management Services Department has designed a change to a median opening on Rattlesnake Hammock Road in East Naples to improve safety for the traveling public. The current median opening on Rattlesnake Hammock Road at Augusta Blvd./ Royal Wood Blvd. is termed “open” with no restrictions for drivers turning from the east or west to cross the six-lane roadway (three lanes eastbound and three lanes westbound).
The modifications proposed are to prohibit left turns from Augusta Blvd. and Royal Wood Blvd. onto Rattlesnake Hammock Road, allowing right turns only from these roads. This configuration will allow left turns onto Augusta Blvd. and Royal Wood Blvd. from Rattlesnake Hammock Road.
In addition, the project is planned to include pavement modifications, curb and gutter work, pavement markings, and new signage. The estimated cost is $800,000. If approved by the Board of County Commissioners, construction could be underway as soon as this summer, with work completed by this fall.
