The Naples Police Department has issued a public alert regarding a fresh phone scam involving unfulfilled jury duty.

Law enforcement has been made aware of a number of incidents in which a caller has been deceiving people into thinking they have missed their jury duty and would be arrested unless they pay with cash or gift cards.

The criminal impersonates Naples Police officers on some calls, according to a recent article by Bridgette Seale of NBC2

If you get a call saying you skipped jury duty, have unpaid penalties, or will be arrested if you don’t pay, it’s advisable to hang up to avoid falling for a scam. Always keep in mind that the Naples Police Department will never phone you to transmit such information.

It’s crucial to note that the Naples Police Department won’t get in touch with a person to let them know there’s a warrant out for their arrest and demand payment of a fine to avoid being detained.
