Naples police arrest Miami cop for child abuse

According to a press release, the Naples Police Department received several 911 calls on Saturday from people at the Naples Pier stating that a man had repeatedly beaten a child with a belt.
Witnesses say they tried but failed to stop the man from fleeing the scene, according to a recent article by Sarah Lindenberg of FOX 4.
Officers located the suspect’s vehicle and made a stop on Gulf Shore Boulevard.
Phillip Kennedy, 55, was later recognized as an active Miccosukee Police Department officer.
Kennedy revealed to authorities that he had beaten his son with a belt.
Witnesses told police that Kennedy repeatedly beat the child with a belt and a closed fist.
Kennedy was arrested for child abuse and taken to Naples Jail Center.
