Naples is once again earning national praise, as Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park has been named the fourth-best beach in the country for 2025 by renowned coastal expert Dr. Stephen Leatherman, also known as “Dr. Beach.” This prestigious ranking celebrates the park's clear waters, sugar-white sands, and commitment to environmental preservation, helping place Collier County on the national tourism map.

Delnor-Wiggins is no stranger to accolades. Located just off Gulfshore Drive, the park is beloved for its scenic views, calm swimming waters, and abundance of wildlife. From sunbathers to kayakers, birdwatchers to snorkelers, the park offers something for every outdoor enthusiast. Visitors consistently praise the well-maintained facilities, family-friendly atmosphere, and peaceful ambiance compared to more crowded beaches.

The ranking is based on 50 criteria, including water quality, sand softness, safety, environmental protection, and amenities. Delnor-Wiggins scored high marks in nearly every category, standing out among thousands of U.S. beaches.

This year's recognition also shines a spotlight on the region’s recovery efforts following recent storm seasons. After weather-related damages closed parts of the park in previous years, restoration efforts have revitalized the shoreline, boardwalks, and dune systems. The return to full functionality has not only restored its beauty but enhanced its sustainability.

This top-five ranking comes at a crucial time for Southwest Florida tourism, which has faced recent dips in hotel occupancy and visitor spending. The national spotlight on Delnor-Wiggins could help reverse that trend, drawing more nature lovers, families, and travel bloggers to the area.

Rounding out the top five beaches on the 2025 list are beaches in Hawaii, Florida’s Panhandle, and New York’s Fire Island. The annual list, released just before summer, influences thousands of travelers making vacation decisions.

For Naples residents, the recognition is a reminder of the world-class beauty in their own backyard. For visitors, it’s an open invitation to discover why Southwest Florida’s beaches are among the best anywhere.
