A woman was arrested after a ballet company in Naples reported losing more than $100,000 in fraudulent transactions, according to a recent article by Tyler Watkins of NBC2.

On December 5, 2022, the owner of Naples Ballet, a nonprofit company, informed police of a huge financial loss

According to the Naples Police Department, the fraud plan occurred between 2019 and 2022.

Nicole Christine Saunders, the organization’s office manager, is primarily responsible for orchestrating the scam, according to investigators.

Saunders, 54, set up a phony corporation to collect credit card payments for the Naples Ballet, according to reports.

Saunders allegedly made 298 fraudulent transactions over a four-year period. NPD reported that the purchases totaled $153,969.84 and were credited to a PayPal account she controlled.

According to the investigation, Saunders then utilized the PayPal account to obtain cash advances at a casino totaling $134,643.19.

Saunders was brought to the Collier County Jail on Monday. She is charged with a plan to defraud, grand theft exceeding $100,000, and criminal use of personally identifiable information.
