NAPLES, Fla. — Authorities are investigating the discovery of human skeletal remains found in a shallow grave at a construction site on Daniels Road in Collier County. The District 20 Medical Examiner confirmed the bones are human and transported them to the Medical Examiner's Office for further analysis. Crime Scene personnel from the Collier County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) and the Florida Gulf Coast University Human Forensic Team have been processing the site and collecting items near the remains that could be connected to the investigation.

Experts are working to determine the sex of the deceased individual. Once established, DNA will be collected and entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs), a centralized repository for missing, unidentified, and unclaimed person cases across the United States. Detectives will also compare the information with local missing persons cases. WBBH

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have stated that additional information will be released as it becomes available.
