Hermès returns to Naples’ Waterside Shops.
Hermès returns to Naples, Florida, on February 17, 2023, in a new location at Waterside Shops, the region’s premier shopping destination, after a nearly nine-year absence.. The Naples location is the latest addition to Hermès’ growing presence in the United States, joining its other boutiques in cities such as New York, Beverly Hills, and Miami. The new store, designed in keeping with the lush atmosphere of the open-air mall, is set with tropical plants and a 550-foot-long, hand-laid rock wall punctuated by cascading water. It introduces Gulf Coast clients to the creativity of Hermès’ 16 métiers.
The store, envisioned as a tropical pavilion inspired by Naples’ historic houseboats and 1950s architecture, is flooded with natural light, inviting guests to discover the Hermès collections displayed across one floor. Customers are greeted by the vibrant women’s and men’s silk collections upon entering. Continuing on, the home objects lead to the equestrian universe, where a seating area makes guests feel at ease. Visitors will find the perfume and beauty métiers, as well as fashion jewelry, on the right side of the store. The worlds of women’s and men’s ready-to-wear surround a large, central shoe salon to the left. Curved walls enclose a leather goods niche, while another intimate cove is dedicated to jewelry and watches.
The store was designed by the Parisian architecture firm RDAI to reflect Naples’ fusion of intimacy, tropical relaxation, and lightness, which is highlighted by sandblasted cherrywood, stucco, and a patina wave treatment on the walls. The all-white exterior is lined with tall, deep windows that flood the interior iconography with bright, natural light, connecting elements from the local landscape of sun, sand, and sea and creating a sense of optimism and warmth. Throughout, a Floridian pastel palette of ochre, green, and ivory is woven into custom gradient carpets and marble chips in the terrazzo floors by local artist Jen Stark.
An extensive art collection connects the Naples store to the vocabulary of the Hermès world, including a luxuriant imaginary landscape drawing by French artist François Houtin, whose work inspired the foliage-motif wall on the fourth floor of the Madison Avenue flagship store. Photographs capture the various moods of the sea, from Romain Laprade’s serenity to Gérard Dalla Santa’s power and force.
The opening of the new store has been met with excitement from local residents and fashion enthusiasts alike. The Naples community has long been known for its appreciation of luxury fashion and lifestyle, and Hermès’ arrival is expected to be a welcome addition to the city’s retail landscape.
Overall, the opening of Hermès’ store in Naples represents an exciting development for both the brand and the local community. As the luxury market continues to thrive in Florida, it is clear that the demand for high-end fashion and lifestyle products will only continue to grow
