Felon and Teen Arrested After Armed Standoff in Collier County

A convicted felon and a 17-year-old boy were arrested following a tense standoff with Collier County Sheriff's deputies that ended peacefully on Monday.

Deputies responded to a home on 27th Avenue Northwest near Golden Gate Estates after reports of a wanted felon barricading himself inside. According to the Collier County Sheriff's Office, the man, identified as 38-year-old Joseph Santiago, refused to come out of the home. A teenage boy was also inside the residence during the standoff.

The Sheriff's Special Response Bureau was deployed to the scene. After hours of negotiation, both individuals surrendered without further incident. The teen’s role in the incident is still under investigation, and no additional information has been released regarding his identity or charges.
