David Lawrence Centers Breaks Ground on New Integrated Care Facility

A New Facility for Urgent Behavioral & Physical Care

On June 20, David Lawrence Centers (DLC) officially kicked off construction of the Diermeier Access & Integrated Care Center, a new 15,000‑sq‑ft, two‑story facility replacing the old admin building on Golden Gate Parkway. Expected to open in fall 2026, this strategic expansion aims to reduce wait times for behavioral health services in Collier County.

Integrated Services & Community Impact

The center builds upon DLC’s “Hope for Collier” mission by offering walk‑in behavioral health urgent care without appointments—filling a critical gap between emergency services and routine outpatient care. Services include:

  • Mental health assessments

  • Primary care

  • On‑site pharmacy

  • Telehealth options

  • Medication-assisted treatment

  • Trauma-focused therapy for veterans

DLC also plans to incorporate training spaces to support the region’s growing need for mental health professionals.

Funding & Philanthropy Backing

The $12.5 million price tag is funded through a mix of philanthropic and public investment:

  • $4M gift from Jeffrey & Julie Diermeier

  • $5M via Florida’s 2024–25 state budget (secured by Sen. Kathleen Passidomo)

  • Additional contributions from local donors

This boost builds upon previous DLC expansions funded by the Diermeiers in 2024.

Addressing a Growing Mental Health Crisis

DLC CEO Scott Burgess emphasized the urgency: mental health challenges affect 1 in 4 Collier County residents, with 1 in 7 dealing with substance use. The facility is designed to reduce barriers to care by offering immediate assessment and early intervention.
