Collier County Teams Up with Governor’s EOG DOGE to Root Out Wasteful Spending

In a unanimous vote on April 22, 2025, the Collier County Board of County Commissioners approved Resolution 2025-89, formalizing its support for a statewide government efficiency initiative launched by Governor Ron DeSantis earlier this year.

Back in February, the Governor signed Executive Order 25-44, which created the Department of Efficiency—more playfully dubbed the EOG DOGE Team—within the Office of Policy and Budget. The mission? To identify unnecessary local government spending, eliminate waste, and ensure tax dollars are being used responsibly.

Collier County didn’t hesitate to get on board. The resolution, introduced and championed by Commissioner [Insert Name if you want attribution], ensures that County staff and leadership will work hand-in-hand with the EOG DOGE Team by providing full access to information and supporting requests in a timely fashion. The resolution also designates the County Manager as the primary point of contact and mandates regular updates to the Board.

“This effort is in complete alignment with Collier County's Priority Based Budgeting process, which I spearheaded in 2023,” said the Commissioner. “We were doing DOGE before DOGE was cool.”

The move underscores Collier County’s continued commitment to transparent, efficient governance and taxpayer accountability. With both the state and local government aligned on cutting waste and maximizing impact, this partnership could serve as a model for other Florida counties.
