Beasley Media Exits Fort Myers–Naples: Five Radio Stations Sold for $18 Million

Beasley Media Group has officially sold off its entire Fort Myers–Naples radio cluster in two separate deals totaling $18 million, signaling a major shift for our airwaves.
What’s Going Down
During its Q2 2025 earnings call, Beasley CEO Caroline Beasley delivered the news: the cluster sale will be split evenly across two transactions, each bringing in $9 million.
Deal #1 ($9M): Sports Talk WBCN‑AM 770 (ESPN affiliate), Soft AC WJPT‑FM “Sunny 106.3”, and Tropical WWCN‑FM “Playa 99.3” have been sold to Fort Myers Broadcasting Co., the parent company behind WAVV‑FM and WINK‑TV/F‑M.
Deal #2 ($9M): Rock station WRXK‑FM “96 K‑Rock” and Top 40 WXKB “B103.9” are heading to Sun Broadcasting Co., which already owns WXCW‑TV and other media assets in the region.
With this move, Beasley is fully exiting the Fort Myers–Naples market—its long-time broadcast home.
Why It Matters Locally
Consolidation on the Rise: Fort Myers Broadcasting Co. (already owner of local radio and television properties) now strengthens its regional media dominance.
New Voices, Same Frequencies: Stations like ESPN Southwest Florida and Sunny 106.3 will likely shift in programming or branding under new management.
Signal Shifts Ahead: Expect increasingly cross-platform integration—radio, TV, and even digital—especially with Sun and Fort Myers Broadcasting at the helm.
Beasley’s Strategic Pivot
This sale isn't just about local change. Beasley is realigning toward a leaner, digital-first business model. In Q2, they reported:
Revenue drop: down 12.3% year-over-year to $53 million.
Digital revenue climb: it now makes up over 25% of total revenue, with improved margins.
This divestiture appears to be a calculated step in debt reduction and focusing on scalability through owned and operated digital channels.
