$97 Million Flyover Project Reshaping Traffic at I-75 and Collier Boulevard

Project Scope and Estimated Timeline
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is currently executing a $97 million interchange construction project at the Interstate 75 (I-75) and State Road 951 (Collier Boulevard) interchange, also known as Exit 101. The scope of the work extends along Collier Boulevard from Business Circle South to City Gate Drive, covering approximately 1.3 miles.
The project began construction in early 2023 and has an estimated completion date of mid-2026.
Key Design Improvements
The project's goal is to increase capacity, improve traffic operations, and enhance safety at the heavily congested interchange. The core improvements involve the construction of new flyover ramps and the reconstruction of existing ramps.
Northbound Collier Boulevard Flyover: A new, single-lane direct flyover ramp is being constructed from northbound Collier Boulevard (starting south of the Davis Boulevard intersection). This ramp will carry traffic over Beck Boulevard and a reconstructed I-75 southbound on-ramp to connect with a new loop ramp in the northeast quadrant, allowing faster access to I-75 North.
Southbound I-75 Flyover Extension: The project includes a single-lane flyover ramp extension to carry I-75 southbound traffic over Davis Boulevard. This ramp will extend along the western side of Collier Boulevard to a new signalized intersection at Business Circle North.
Ramp Reconstruction: The I-75 southbound on- and off-ramp connections and the northbound on-ramp connection to the mainline lanes are all being reconstructed.
Loop Ramps: New single-lane, 200-foot radius loop ramps are being installed in the southwest and northeast quadrants to optimize traffic flow.
Current and Ongoing Traffic Impacts
Motorists should expect significant, intermittent traffic changes as crews continue with overhead bridge work and roadway construction:
Lane Closures: Intermittent lane closures are in effect for both southbound and northbound Collier Boulevard during nighttime/overnight hours. These closures facilitate the installation of temporary barrier walls, material delivery, and overhead bridge work, such as the installation of beams for the new flyover bridge.
Lane Shifts: Lane shifts are active on Collier Boulevard between Business Circle South and I-75 to create necessary work zones for the construction of the elevated roadways.
Ramp Closures: The outside right turn lane from southbound Collier Boulevard (SR 951) to westbound Davis Boulevard (SR 84) is closed.
Permanent Closure: The eastbound S.R. 84 (Davis Boulevard) direct access ramp heading south to Collier Boulevard (SR 951) has been permanently closed. Motorists can still make the eastbound to southbound right turn at the intersection.
Sidewalks: Sidewalks have been closed along both Davis Boulevard and Collier Boulevard in the construction area.
All construction activities, which currently include drainage installation, roadway work, and utility relocation, are subject to change based on weather conditions and unforeseen underground conditions.
